Cupcakes, Good Friends and Turkeys

Ah... What a great last few days I have had...life is great!

This weekend I worked which actually went pretty well too, but in the evenings I got to hang out with my friends Jen, Dale and thier son 17 month old son Isaiah. They were visiting Milwaukee to apartment hunt for thier new home when they move to Milwaukee in June for Dale to start a physician residency for a few years. Jen is one of my Bethel buddies, a former roomate and former social worker:) I hadn't seen her since August 08 so it was such a treat to be able to hang out with her family and get to know her adorable son.I talk on the phone to her often but it was so good to see them!!! Sometimes I think you forget how important people are to you when they are far away (IOWA) and you haven't seen them for a while, but thier visit was so enjoyable and its makes me even more super excited to share life together with them when they move and have another close friend nearby!! I am so stoked:) They stayed with our mutual good friend Noelle and it was so fun for all of us to hang out and for Jon to be around to play games, go out to dinner also.

Last night my fun continued as I went with Emmy and Noelle to Iron Cupcake, Extreme Chocolate competion. Our Friend Liz was a baker in the competion making chocolate zucchini cupcakes yummy. I got to try 18 mini chocolate variety of cupcakes and vote, drink some wine and hang out. A little too much chocolate but so fun to try everything for $5. It was a lot of fun and cheap entertainment. After the competition we all went to Stak'd burger bar and I had a super yummy burger on a pretzel roll.. i love that place! Another great night of friends. I seriously am so lucky to have such amazing friends and I love spending time with them. I don't understand people that cut out girlfriends in thier life when they get married, I don't get it. You need them and it just makes life more fun, my girlfriends have always been important to me.

Well... that was the end of my super social few days, I loved being busy with work and plans for a few days in row. I feel most fufilled with a busy schedule. Today is back to not working for 2 weeks (UGH!) and hanging around home waiting for calls back about jobs and just relaxing too much. Today I have my in-laws coming into town as Jon's Great uncle passed away so we have the vistation and funeral this week. Very Sad. My mother in law is just staying through thanksgiving now and I will help her prepare the Thanksgiving dinner (pretty much she does it all, and I am going to try and learn!:) So with that said, I need to go and buy my first Turkey today.... Bring on Thanksgiving Folks~
