The UPS warehouse scary adventure...

So the story begins with my orders online for my textbooks for the semester as i always order online since they are cheaper.. i contemplated where i should have them shipped but remembered neighbors at our complex recieving packages by the door, so i thought i might as well send them here. In the past since moving here, I have sent them to Racine to my in-laws and had Jon pick them up eventually. Well...come Friday I get an email and a letter on my mailbox saying it was the 2nd attempt to deliver (when was the 1st??) and a signature was required so either I could make arrangments to pick up at center or have them try again on Mon (when i know I wasn't home). So I call the UPS number, the operator says that i will get a call back from the local center in one hour with information to pick up my 2 packages.

I get a call from the UPS lady, telling me I can pick up my package in Oak creek (10-15 min away) tonight (FRIDAY NIGHT) between 8:00- 8:30 pm.. Are you serious?? Way to wreck my social plans for a Friday night... That was my response. I have picked up packages at other UPS locations anytime before. Whatever. So I am really annoyed but don't have a choice.. So I said fine about the pickup. My plans tonight included catching dinner and possibly a movie with emmy so we rearranged our whole evening and movie around the 30 minute window of time and location where I had to pick up my stupid textbooks at UPS.

Now it gets interesting... So we find the warehouse at 8:10 pm. We pull up to customer service and pull in and attempt to park. We then realize that there are cars lined the whole block near the entrance all coming to pick up thier items!!! A security guard runs towards emmys car in a serious manner and tells us we are going to have to wait as there is now parking available as if this is a hopping nightclub or something.. so i wait about 2 minutes before realizing that emmy should just drop me off so i don't miss the remaining 10 minutes left to pick up the package.. I walk past the semis and into the little entrance in the dark away from the parking, quite creeped out. I tell emmy if I am not out in 30 minutes, i may have been kidnapped. I enter the small pick up area to find a 50+ year old lady who looks like a hairdresser from the 70's manning the pickup window with a large line of diverse customers. Then some odd looking guy in street clothes comes up to me to ask for my id to find my UPS shipment as he confirms my address outloud. I reluctantly show him my ID as i notice there are 5 creepy looking guys around the room who appear to maybe be truck drivers but are not customers as they are not in line. I then started to get really freaked as I now realize that all these creepy guys just heard me say my address.. maybe they just sit around each night for 30 minutes to find out where people live so they can later break in to steal thier stuff. Finally I am 2nd in line, and the man in front of me feels the need to to tell the looklike a hairdresser lady about how his wife just had a baby so that is why he is picking up the carseat as she asked about 25 personal questions for the new dad for the next 10 minutes while i waited...
FINALLY... its my turn, i sign for my packages and get to leave.. the line is still out the door and one of the creepy stalkers is really looking at me crazy.. i never walked so fast to emmy's car.. i should have ran. I had enough of that crazy dark warehouse and the freaks.

Moral of the story... if you can't be home for a UPS delivery, send it somewhere where someone can sign for it to avoid a possible scary adventure in the dark at the UPS warehouse ..

I know i used to many words to tell this not-really-that-exciting story....
