That is how to sum up my trip in two words.. Ahhhh Arizona. I had a fabulous time. I left wed afternoon and it started with a rough bumpy flight into phoenix, which was not fun, but i made it and did not get sick so that was a good thing. Wed night- Thursday i just hung out with Gina the bride and her sisters by the pool, getting some sun and then a little shopping. Thursday night we had our bridal shower in the apartment clubhouse. It was great to meet up with all of Gina's friends. Friday morning we all went for manicures and pedicures and then out to lunch at a bakery.
Friday afternoon we just hung out and then we had the rehearsal at 6 pm followed by a crazy bachelorette party. For the bachelorette party we went to barcelona steakhouse and club in scottsdale. I had a yummy steak dinner and then we had such a blast dancing at the club. It was very upscale and classy and not like trashy places in WI. David Hernandez who was on american idol a season or two ago was the performer and him and a women sang all the main pop/dance tunes with a live band. They were really really good and we had such a blast dancing. It was like no where i had ever been before. There are couches and tables and different bars inside and outside the place. It was pricey so i stuck to one glass of wine for the entire evening and then just water:) We finally got home and to bed around 3 am.. that is crazy late for me.
Saturday was the wedding day but thankfully the wedding was not until 5 pm, so we could sleep in which was nice. The afternoon was filled with pictures, hair and makeup getting done and prepping. The wedding was beautiful!!! Gina looked amazing and so did us bridesmaids:) She got married in an indoor courtyard of a motel and she actually rode down a glass elevator for her grand enterance to her ceremony. The ceremony was very beautiful and moving.. her husband Ish sang the song "God bless the broken road" acapella and it was touching.. there was tearing eyes everywhere! They also had 3 pastors that were important to them do the ceremony together and they had great messages. Gina and Ish both said traditional vows but then had additional pledges to each other that they wrote. It was soo sweet. I am so happy for her. They also emphasized thier own purity and virginity as a gift to each other on thier wedding day as they way God created marriage.. how valuable that is. What a great testimony of God's perfect plan for thier lives as they begin thier live together. The ceremony was such a reflection of God's love for us. We then had pictures and reception and had a great dinner and time dancing.
After the wedding, I went home with Gina's friend Ronni for sat night as my flight didn't leave until 4 pm sun. I got to go to Gina's church which i think really highly of. Its a great example of christian community and dynamic worship. Then sun afternoon i headed on my flight home and once again had a crappy flight with turbulence.. what the heck? I love flying but this weekend made me rethink that. I made it home safe and found it necessary to drive and meet my hubby in his patrol car to give him a kiss while he was working... I missed him a ton and didn't want to wait til mon night to see him.
So overall, fantastic time hanging out Gina and her great friends... I am so excited for her to be married, as it truly is such a great blessing in life. I am thankful now to be home with Jon and still trying to catch up on sleep, laundry and getting back into routine. My next summer event to look forward to is my best friend and cousin Sara coming to visit thurs night- sun, also jon's 25th birthday on Thurs. Loving summer!
