What Wonderous, Perfect Love of God

During this Easter/Lent season I am reminded of God's perfect love through his death and reserrection. As i sat through Maundy Thursday service tonight with my husband and in-laws, I was truly moved by the service and God's strong presence in the church. It was a somber service rembering Christ's death with singing, choir songs, meditation, communion and scripture. The use of candles and darkness were used and at the end of the service, all was dark but one candle and the whole congregation left in silence to remember God's love and sacrafice.

As we went forward row by row and were served communion, the words of the elders distributing the bread and grape choice spoke to me. "his body was broken for you", " His blood was given for you". These phrases were repeated with sincerity to each person in attendance. When you reflect on that, how incredibly awesome. It wasn't that he "died for the whole world" but he died for you, and every person in that church ,and every person you come in contact with, and every race, and every country and in every generation that every lived. He knows each of us personally and if you were the only person living this earth, HE STILL WOULD HAVE DIED FOR YOU.

That is amazing, selfless perfect love that we don't deserve. All the time we have messed up and made bad choices, or not given God back all the time, energy, or talents he has given us. He forgives over and over and over again. His love is perfect and so indescribable.

As i left the amazing worship service tonight with the taste of communion juice tangy on my tongue, and the presence of God so strongly surrounding me, this hymn is continually playing in my head...

"What wonderous love is this, O my soul, O my soul!
What wonderous love is this, O my soul.
What wonderous love is this that caused the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful curse for my soul, for my soul.....

To God and to the Lamb I will sing, I will sing
To God and to the Lamb I will sing,
to God and to the lamb, who is the great I AM
while millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing
while millions join the theme, I will sing.....

Take time this Easter weekend to truly remember what we are remembering and what we are celebrating. Not only Jesus's death but also his victorious resserrection! Christ is Risen!
